Creative mandate for the home:
For a client who loves to cook and entertain, the original kitchen in this Park Slope brownstone simply wasn’t cutting it. Cramped and short on storage, it needed a complete reimagining. By relocating the powder room—which had claimed valuable square footage—we not only opened up the layout but also introduced a new window, filling the kitchen with natural light.
The resulting space is generous, functional, and a true joy to gather in. Two full rows of cabinetry above the range maximize storage, while a custom pantry and broom closet flanking the fireplace provide seamless organization for this busy household.
The island, wrapped in walnut, anchors the room as both a workhorse and a social hub, paired with leather-accented stools that echo the warm tones of the herringbone white oak floors.
Although the client envisioned a classic white kitchen, layered materials ensure the design feels anything but sterile. Dramatic quartzite stone sweeps across the counters and backsplash, striking vintage-inspired glass pendants bring a touch of sparkle, and a black marble fireplace adds depth and contrast.
The result is timeless yet lively—a kitchen that balances elegance and practicality, perfectly suited to both everyday family life and vibrant entertaining.
